Bioeconomy excellence alliance for stimulating innovative and inclusive green transition

Description

The BEAMING project aims to strengthen excellence in bioeconomy research and innovation by stimulating co-operation between higher education institutions and harnessing scientific knowledge for the benefit of society and the economy. The project puts particular emphasis on supporting the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe (including the Western Balkans), part of the Widening region, to close the gap with EU Member States with more developed bio-economies and research ecosystems.

BEAMING aims to increase the global competitiveness and visibility of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) by developing the capacity for technology transfer, exchange of know-how and the adoption of structural reforms, educational priorities and an organisational culture oriented towards excellence and innovation. The project promotes collaboration within the Quadruple Helix innovation ecosystem - universities, industry, public administration and civil society - to ensure effective valorisation of research results and a green and inclusive transition.

Through its 7 specific objectives, BEAMING aims at training young researchers, modernising institutional practices, creating sustainable communities of practice, developing joint research and innovation strategies, promoting Open Science practices, enhancing technology transfer and promoting diversity and gender equality in academia. The project brings together 17 partners from 13 countries, actively contributing to the implementation of the ERA (European Research Area) Policy Agenda in the field of bioeconomy and circular economy at local, regional and European level.
