INCDSB is, since 2011, an Affiliate Centre of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), an organization dedicated to advanced applied research and training in molecular biology and biotechnology.

This affiliation is a major achievement for INCDSB giving the institute competitive advantages because:

• It demonstrates that INCDSB has achieved a high standard in terms of research quality,
• Ensures the uniqueness of the Institute at national level (as ICGEB offers the status of Affiliated Centre to only one organisation per Member State),
• It shows that INCDSB is an active player in the global research network, representing with honour Romanian research.

Thus, INCDSB benefits from the resources and services of the Centre (ICGEB) and from training activities and funding programmes. The Institute now has the opportunity to access the Collaborative Research Programme (CRP), funded by ICGEB, which aims to stimulate collaborative research between ICGEB and the network of Affiliated Centres by creating appropriate research facilities in institutes with development potential, and promoting the training of young researchers through the development of research programmes of specific interest to each participating country.
