BOOSTing the bioeconomy transformation FOR (4) the BIOEAST region
Description
The participation in the European project "BOOSTing the bioeconomy transformation FOR (4) the BIOEAST region" (BOOST4BIOEAST) aims to develop national stakeholder networks, improve the national and international bioeconomy action plan, and strengthen long-term structures for national and macro-regional co-operation.
It aims to strengthen research competences and significantly improve the level of professional performance by training and upskilling R&D staff through participation in European Info Days.
In line with the orientation of European programmatic policies towards a green transition and the implementation of circular economy principles, we propose the superior valorisation of bioactive compounds (flavonoids, polyphenols) from agro-food residues (muskmelons - Mespilus germanica and/or cranberries -Vaccinium vitis -idaea) with the production of extracts concentrated in compounds with therapeutic potential (anti-inflammatory/antidiabetic/hypocholesterolemic) by using "green", ecological, environmentally friendly technologies. The green technologies that will be used in the project are: ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) and accelerated extraction (ASE), relatively recent technologies that offer a number of advantages over traditional extraction methods, as well as membrane, micro-, ultra- and nano-filtration technologies for concentrating the bioactive compounds of interest. These technologies are easy to control and can be applied on an industrial scale.
We aim to increase excellence in research by publishing at least one article in a Q1 or Q2 rated journal.
