National Institute of Research and Development for Biological Sciences

Development of integrated solutions to improve the circular, sustainable and safe valorisation of (BIO)RESOURCES to provide advanced knowledge and value-added products using also green technologies (GREEN) for the bioeconomy-environment-health system.

Description

BIORESGREEN will contribute to the achievement of major institutional development targets:

  1. Increase and strengthen institutional and human resource (HR) competences in life sciences and related fields to actively contribute to providing solutions to identified European socio-human challenges (e.g.: INCDSB contribution to sustainable management of natural resources through the development of superior raw material and by-product/biological waste valorisation techniques, methods and protocols, i.e. through HR over-specialisation);
  2. Strengthening an institutional portfolio of transferable technologies and knowledge and intensifying the process of transfer of knowledge and technologies to external users, thus contributing to accelerating the green transition process towards a circular economy (e.g. INCDSB is a source of knowledge generation - "green" technologies for valorisation of natural resources and facilitating the transfer to SMEs);
  3. Participation in networks of research infrastructures, development of a pole of research excellence, of a national research network in agri-food and medical (bio)technologies to provide solutions to the challenges generated by the "one health" approach (INCDSB is part of the RoRIC-NeXT-BioNAN-Bioeconomy - Health and Food; RoHealth cluster, etc.);
  4. Maintain and expand existing international partnerships and strengthen exchanges of knowledge and know-how to promote research in cell biology, genetics, proteomics, metabolomics and biotechnologies (e.g. ICGEB, LifeWatch, Danubius-RI etc.);
  5. Realisation of the Romanian components, DANUBIUS-RO, of DANUBIUS-RI.
