Multifunctional hydrogels based on novel compounds of marine and plant origin for modulating the treatment of chronic wounds
Description
Currently, the treatment of chronic wounds remains a major therapeutic challenge, despite the fact that there are numerous medical products that target one or more pathological aspects that prevent normal healing. The project proposes to investigate new synergistic formulations based on marine compounds (such as polysaccharides extracted from algae, collagen, gelatin and peptides from fish waste) and plant extracts to modulate chronic wounds in an effective way with a direct effect on the inflammatory process and persistent infections. The combination of these natural compounds will result in hydrogels with anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial properties and improved regenerative effects.
