Hybrid bio-systems enriched with biotechnological extracted oils and applicability in skin tissue engineering
Description
Infections are a common problem associated with dermal wounds, contributing to tissue degeneration and, in extreme cases, leading to death. In this context, hydrogels with antimicrobial activity become indispensable for coating implant surfaces or for direct wound treatment to prevent or even inhibit existing infections. The main aim of the project: to develop a new strategy for the preparation of a hybrid gel biostructure based on a natural/synthetic polymeric matrix enriched with active antibacterial ingredients extracted from aromatic herbs. The new gels will be the main component of a new patch enhanced with antibacterial compounds obtained from bio-extracts. The project will bring clear results in the field of biotechnology by supporting the use of new plant-extracted compounds with therapeutic activity.
