The main objective of the SIA-Pro project is the identification and characterisation of natural resources as a basis for the efficient valorisation of wastes or by-products resulting from the processing of plants, forks, etc. and the production of functional extracts with a high content of biologically active compounds. The development of the processes and technologies will take into account the economic profitability and the decrease of the carbon footprint, fulfilling the food safety and security criteria. The project aims to develop a range of new competitive methods, techniques and products, scientifically based on modern, efficient and environmentally friendly extraction processes. Thus, the real, positive impact will be on the health of the population by ensuring a better quality of life, as well as on the reduction of residues and contaminants throughout the food chain.
