The National Institute of Research and Development for Biological Sciences (INCDSB) is calling for applications and nominations for the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Advances and Innovations in Modern Biosciences, in accordance with the Methodology for the selection of the editorial board, attached to this call.

METHODOLOGY FOR CHOOSING THE EDITORIAL STAFF
INCDSB Journal - Advances and Innovations in Modern Biosciences

1. Purpose of the methodology

The methodology sets out the criteria, process and responsibilities for the selection of Editorial Board members, so that the journal achieves the goal of international indexing and is managed according to editorial standards (COPE, DOAJ, Scopus, Clarivate).

2. Structure of the Editorial Collective

Permanent positions:

  • Editor-in-Chief
  • Executive Editor
  • Science Editor

Non-permanent positions:

  • Young Researchers Section Officer
  • Extended Editorial Board (national and international members)

3. Selection principles

Selection is based on the following principles:

  • Scientific expertise in the areas of the journal;
  • Integrity and editorial independence;
  • International visibility (ORCID, Google Scholar, WoS/Scopus);
  • Experience in peer-review and/or editorial activities;
  • Interdisciplinary representativeness;
  • Generational balance and institutional diversity;
  • Involvement in scientific dissemination.

4. Eligibility criteria

To the Editor-in-Chief:

  • PhD in the fields concerned;
  • Minimum 16 WoS articles, of which at least 8 in Q1/Q2;
  • Experience in coordinating CDI projects or leading scientific teams;
  • No conflicts of interest with the editorial process.

For Science Editors:

  • Minimum 16 WoS articles, of which at least 8 in Q1/Q2;
  • Expertise in at least one theme of the journal;
  • Availability to manage editorial processes.

Young Researchers Section Leader:

  • Minimum 8 WoS articles, of which at least 4 in Q1/Q2;
  • involvement in editorial / peer-review activities;
  • recommendation from a senior member.

For the Extended Editorial Board:

  • Minimum 15 internationally indexed articles;
  • Thematic expertise and availability for peer-review;
  • National or international affiliation, including academic diaspora.

5. Selection process

  • Stage 1: Publication of the internal and external call for nominations/self-nominations;
  • Stage 2: Submission of candidatures/nominations;
  • Stage 3: Evaluation according to eligibility criteria by a Commission appointed by the Scientific Council;
  • Step 4: Validation of nominations to the INCDSB Scientific Council;
  • Step 5: Authorisation by Decision of the Director-General.

6. Term of office and revocation

  • Term of office: 3 years, renewable once;
  • Revocation allowed in case of: inactivity, ethical conflicts, non-compliance with editorial rules;
  • Annual activity evaluation based on editorial performance indicators.

7. Obligations of editorial members

  • Respect COPE rules and the confidentiality of the editorial process;
  • Declaring conflicts of interest;
  • Promote the journal and attract contributions;
  • Ensure a recommended peer-review process time ≤ 45 days;
  • Support in expanding the journal's international circulation;
  • Have not been involved in any cases of retractions, plagiarism or non-compliant editorial practices.

8. Performance indicators for the editorial staff

  • Average peer-review time: ≤ 45 days;
  • Acceptance rate: 20-35%;
  • Share of international authors: ≥ 25% from year 2;
  • Increase Google Scholar citations and visibility: +15% annually;
  • DOAJ/EBSCO indexing submission in 2027;
  • Scopus/WoS submission in 2028-2030.

The methodology may be reviewed annually by the Scientific Council in line with evolving international indexing requirements.
